Tēnei tūranga – About the Role:We are seeking a passionate and proactive Workforce Planning Analyst to drive operational and strategic workforce planning across our organisation. This is a new and exciting opportunity to help shape our MBIE workforce to be best positioned to deliver tangible outcomes for New Zealand.You will support the development and implementation of workforce planning frameworks and tools that ensure the Ministry has the right people, in the right place, at the right time. You’ll help build and guide strategic workforce planning for business groups and contribute to long-term workforce strategies that improve sustainability, efficiency, and the economy in service delivery. Your insights will directly influence how we forecast, structure, and support our workforce.The Workforce Planning Analyst will:

• Bring their business understanding and perspective to work in partnership with their manager, wider team, and stakeholders.
• Ensure quality and consistency of advice through critical analysis of complex information to assist the business in making effective workforce decisions.
• Analyse and plan organisational requirements to best meet expected service delivery demand, within the agreed limits of approved budgeted FTE levels.
• Assess service demand and plan the appropriate level and mix of skills that will be required for the MBIE to meet its operational outputs.
• Produce regular standard reports, in a timely manner and evolve the reports to improve presentation and the workforce narrative.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high quality and well researched insights analysis on MBIE’s workforce including risks and opportunities.
• Develop workforce reporting that is relatable and impactful to support business decisions.
• Provide insights and data to inform MBIE business cases and/or change programmes.
• Use modelling and forecasting scenarios for current and future state workforce, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, data and information standards including data confidentiality, privacy, and security protocols.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance workforce tools and processes.

The Enterprise Workforce Planning, Change and Reporting team supports the organisation with strategic workforce planning, change initiatives and providing both operational and strategic reporting services.Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana – Skills and ExperienceWe are interested to hear from candidates who have:

• Proven experience in the delivery and continuous improvement of business and operational planning, performance reporting systems and processes, and analysis of information.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
• Demonstrated ability to use relevant software applications, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing packages and process management software.
• Excellent communication skills – written, visual, and verbal – with a focus on simplicity and clarity.
• Proven experience working with cross-functional teams and engaging a wide range of stakeholders.
• Experience in a public sector or large operational organisation is highly desirable.
• A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in workforce planning, HR, or a related field.
