You’ll be supported to do meaningful work that has a real impact every dayMō te Tūranga | About the roleIntegrations at ASB connect our core systems with customer and staff channels-including the Mobile App, Internet Banking, ATMs, Teller systems, and third-party partners. We achieve this primarily through APIs and event streaming, making data and functionality accessible where it’s needed most.As a Software Consultant at ASB, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering complex software solutions across our platforms. This is a senior individual contributor role (Level 4) that blends deep technical expertise with solution architecture, platform ownership, and cross-squad collaboration.You will:
- Work closely with engineers, product owners, and architects to design scalable, secure, and reliable systems
- Build SDKs, maintain event brokers, and mentor engineers
- Directly influence the quality and resilience of our technology stack
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, enjoys coaching others, and wants to drive technical excellence-without formal people leadership responsibilities.Ō Pūkenga | About youYou’ll bring a strong mix of technical skills and a proactive, curious mindset. To thrive in this role, you’ll have:
- Solid experience with C# .NET and API development
- Familiarity with version control tools (TFS, Azure DevOps, or similar)
- DevOps experience, especially with build and deployment pipelines
- Exposure to observability toolsets (e.g., Elastic Observability or similar)
- A reputation as a solid all-rounder, comfortable with operational work (deployments, releases, etc.)
- Experience working with platforms, or a strong understanding of platform engineering
- Willingness to learn, with an interested, curious, and problem-solving approach
- Ability to work independently and provide on-call support when needed
Bonus points for:
- Experience with GitHub Enterprise
- SQL scripting skills
- Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks (React, or similar like Vue or Angular)
