This is a permanent full-time position reporting to the Software Development Manager.ObjectiveThe successful applicant will have a solid understanding of computer science and software development fundamentals with a dedication to quality and performance. Join a small but growing team supporting an established data analytics product and contribute to the success of the product and company.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement and test software features for a suite of data analytics applications, including desktop and server applicationsBuilding and consuming RESTful web servicesWrite testable code and write unit tests where possibleUpdate and refactor legacy code where required to conform to modern (c++23) standards, improve testabilityMaintain, troubleshoot and contribute to our build pipeline in Azure DevopsUtilize root-cause analysis when investigating and resolving issuesParticipate in technical discussions, challenge ideas and present solutions and approaches to be considered by the teamParticipate in an Agile software development process, provide time and scope estimates for backlog items, submit and review Pull RequestsStrong team player and individual contributorCollaborate with other product teams as we develop a suite of applications tailored to the O&G industryFollow coding standards and best practices and suggest improvements where appropriateExperience and QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar, or equivalent experience7+ years of experience with C++ is requiredVisual Studio, Windows application development, CMake, MSBuildExperience prototyping, designing and developing new modules, API’s and/or user interfacesBuild systems and package managers including cmake and vcpkgExperience with database backends, especially Oracle and/or SQL ServerAdditional QualificationsKnowledge of Javascript and other front-end web technologies such as Angular, React, D3, LeafletExperience with geospatial data and databasesKnowledge of data analytics and familiarity with tools such as Power BI and TableauExperience with modern data platform like Snowflake and Databricks.Experience using AI tools to improve development process and added features.Omnira is part of Constellation Software Inc., a large global conglomerate of software companies that is publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange under CSU.
