It supports various teams and functions across Delta and is an integral part of our transformation agenda, working seamlessly with a global team to create memorable experiences for customers.This position provides leadership and oversight of a team of engineers and data analysts with the following responsibilities:Structures / Liaison Engineers:
- Work with the other Delta Liaison Engineering teams providing 24×7 engineering support for Deltas worldwide fleet of aircraft. Primarily focused on developing structural repairs for airframe damage as well as repairs for most aircraft systems.
- Review and approve alternative PMA parts for Delta aircraft which provide substantial cost reduction for the airline.
- Develop stress analysis for structural repairs and alterations along with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis in support of Deltas fleet of aircraft.
- Develop FEA load models for various structural aspects of Delta aircraft.
Propulsion Engineering:
- Provide Technical oversight for all On-wing & Reliability Technical Support across Propulsion engineering teams in Delta
- Develop framework for root cause for delays / cancellation for engine reliability drivers
- Ensure compliance to new Airworthiness Directives, OEM Service Bulletins and Service Information Letters
- Evaluates maintenance procedures for effectiveness and recommends changes to improve outcomes
- Review Engineering Orders to implement inspections, repairs and modifications, and provides budget impact analysis to meet internal funding requirement
- Provide Technical oversight for all activities covering the Engine Shop
- Develops initial Delta TechOps workscope from OEM maintenance instructions for OEM integrated MRO shops (i.e. Rolls-Royce Trent, Pratt & Whitney GTF)
- Develop Delta repair solutions through key data collection for out of limits damage conditions
- Participates in workscope escalation and scrap disposition reviews to support workscope optimization
- Ensure Integration of typical repairs into Delta manuals to improve maintenance efficiency and reduce job stops
- Supports development of Shop Visit Reports and Failure Investigation Reports for Delta and MRO customer engine shop visits at Delta TechOps
Data Scientists:
- Locate and extract pertinent data from a variety of sources for use in reporting, analysis, and statistical modeling to provide continuous improvement in Deltas operations.
- Partner with IT business units to optimize and enhance the database environment for standard processes and efficiency.
- Leverage emerging technologies and identify effective ways to disseminate data and analysis throughout the Delta TechOps enterprise.
- Partner with IT and other internal business groups as necessary to support deployment and productionization of new analytical data requirements.
The leader must also perform the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Provide development and training guidance and opportunities for team members.
- Partner with internal and external fleet stakeholders, including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and Delta procedures regarding the issuance of engineering documentation.
- Influence and provide recommendations on strategies and maintenance related decisions to enhance, optimize and/or protect Deltas 800+ fleet.
- Represents Delta interests on various industry committees and OEM activities.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS):
- A bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent technical related field along with experience in an aviation engineering organization.
- Extensive industry and regulatory interfaces and knowledge.
- 15 – 20 Years of work experience in Aerospace or Airline Industries is a must.
- Familiarity with airline flight operations and support systems along with FAA 14CFR 121 regulations.
- Knowledge of Technical Operations policies and procedures preferred.
- Ability to communicate to a diverse audience in various formal and informal environments.
- Ability to analyze incomplete information and implement timely decision making while mitigating risk factors.
- Must be able to develop and direct a support strategy, communicate with internal/external partners and leaders, and develop strong partnerships with key collaborators.
