Job SummaryThe role holder is responsible for leading and managing the implementation of comprehensive safety and security programs in the Eastern and Central regions, including HQ compound, to eliminate or minimize potential threats and promote a safe and secure environment. The role holder shall carry out his duties in accordance with the stipulated business policies and procedures.Key ResponsibilitiesManagerial Responsibilities
- Participates in the development and implementation of the Safety and Security General Directorate plans, in line with the corporate objectives.
- Directs and manages the Eastern and Central Safety and Security Operations Department mandates, providing leadership and facilitating work processes in order to achieve high performance standards.
- Manages and controls change in the Eastern and Central Safety and Security Operations Department providing guidance and support, necessary for continuous improvement.
- Ensures compliance with organizational policies, procedures and quality standards in the Eastern and Central Safety and Security Operations Department.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategy Implementation
- Participates in the strategy formulation by providing support and inputs to the General Manager – Safety and Security.
- Leads implementation of the Sector strategy and develops policies and procedures for the Eastern and Central Safety and Security Operations Department to drive achievement of the desired objectives.
- Ensures standardization of policies and procedures implemented and being practiced on ground related to safety security operations in the Eastern and Central regions, including HQ compound.
- Managing Safety and Security Operations
- Leads and directs STC-employed safety and security teams in Eastern and Central regions and HQ.
- Oversees the management of security control room operations and supervises external security resources on site in Eastern and Central regions and HQ to ensure proper delivery.
- Keeps abreast of regional and international trends in all the fields covered by the Safety and Security General Directorate, with specific emphasis on dealing with perceived threats in the near future, in order to suggest and implement effective contingency plans to counter these threats.
- Managing Teams
- Appraises, develops and posts staff accordingly to ensure that the Safety and Security Department is equipped to meet its objectives with a strong base of experts in Eastern and Central regions and HQ.
- Ensures orientation of STC staff within the region in appropriate aspects of security, fire and loss prevention, safe working and other skills within the realm of the safety and security function to ensure requisite skills, competency and awareness levels.
- Vendor Management
- Oversees the preparation, negotiation and finalization of safety and security contracts for the Eastern and Central regions and HQ established with external service providers and ensures that contract terms and conditions provide STC with cost beneficial services and are in line with STC overall strategy and policies.
- Service Delivery Management
- Performs periodic reviews and audits of delivered services in order to ensure adherence of safety and security to defined standards, policies and procedures as per the service level agreements.
- Manages the service level agreements and ensures that external service providers deliver as per the state objectives and standards.
- People Management Responsibilities
- Defines goals and key performance indicators for each member of the team and ensures effective application of the STC performance management process.
- Directs planning and selection of manpower in the Eastern and Central Safety and Security Operations Department, in line with the business and operational plans.
- Ensures high level of employee engagement and capability development by providing on-going feedback and coaching team members within the Eastern and Central Safety and Security Operations Department.
- Performs other responsibilities and tasks as directed by the โฆ.. in order to meet objectives
Qualifications/Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Engineering or equivalent
- Relevant certifications in Safety and Security Management from The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), High Commission for Industrial Security (HCIS) etc.
Required ExperienceA minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with at least 3-4 years in a similar roleDesired Skills & Knowledge
