Job Description<\/b><\/span>Note***: This is a hybrid role, combining remote and on-site work, requiring 3 days in our new office in Pune.<\/span>Zendesk is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Backend or Full Stack) to join our our online business team.<\/span>The ideal candidate for this position is an established engineer responsible for the development of consistent, usable, reliable, and performant user experiences used by enterprise customers.<\/span>What you\u2019ll be doing:<\/span>Successful candidates will use their extensive knowledge in software engineering to bring innovation, and technical acuity to their role. They are expected to lead by example, demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, communicate effectively, and contribute positively to the team culture.<\/span>Independently and proactively contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of high-quality, efficient software solutions.<\/span>Work collaboratively across multiple teams to architect reliable, secure, performant, extensible, and scalable solutions.<\/span>Communicate technical decisions effectively and clearly.<\/span>Proactively identify and mitigate potential issues in development, testing, or delivery stages.<\/span>Prioritize tasks to deliver high impact and value to users, the team, and the company.<\/span>Participate in application improvement discussions, project initiatives, and feature design.<\/span>Build reusable code and components for future use.<\/span>Review and provide constructive feedback on pull requests.<\/span>Maintain up-to-date and accurate technical documentation.<\/span>Participate in on-call rotations after an initial training period.<\/span>Mentor, pair with, and train team members to enhance collective knowledge.<\/span>Participate in common agile development ceremonies.<\/span>What you bring to the role<\/b><\/span>We are interested in finding the best candidate for this position, but we value diverse backgrounds and experiences. We encourage you to apply even if you do not match everything in the job description.<\/span>Required qualifications<\/b><\/span>Strong professional experience designing, developing, testing, and shipping features to production in a stable and reliable manner.<\/span>Several years working in Ruby on Rails and relational data stores such as MySQL\/Aurora.<\/span>Experience working with GraphQL and REST APIs.<\/span>Experience with version control tools, continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.<\/span>Experience mentoring software engineers, working with Design, Product, and Engineering counterparts.<\/span>Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.<\/span>Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills (English).<\/span>Tech stack<\/span>Our code is written in Ruby on Rails, JavaScript\/TypeScript.<\/span>Our frontend uses frameworks including React, Redux, React Testing Library, Cypress, Jest.<\/span>Our servers live in AWS.<\/span>Our applications\/services are deployed via Spinnaker to Kubernetes.<\/span>Our data is stored in Aurora\/MySQL and S3.<\/span>Please note that Zendesk can only hire candidates who are physically located and plan to work from Karnataka or Maharashtra. This role must attend our local office for part of the week.
