Location -Bangalore, India<\/span>Hours of Work Split or shared shifts as follows<\/span>Either 08.00 – 17.00 or 09.00 – 18.00 Monday to Friday (all times are UK<\/span>time)<\/span>Team Summary The Backup, Unix & Storage Ops team is 8:00 to 18:00 (UK hours)<\/span>The analysts are supposed to be specialist in Storage<\/span>(NetApp & Brocade) Backup (CommVault), and preferably some knowledge<\/span>in Unix (Solaris) The analyst would be responsible for day-to-day Support for<\/span>the Storage environment, and configuration of backup systems<\/span>Role Summary The purpose of this role is to ensure that our Customer’s Backup & Storage<\/span>systems are correctly configured to meet the requirements of a constantly<\/span>changing IT environment.<\/span>You will be responsible for all Storage and Backup Systems related queries<\/span>and requests along with your region-based counterpart. You will also be<\/span>heavily involved in future Storage Backup Systems enhancement projects.<\/span>Detailed Activities Include:<\/span>Storage: To support and manage Netapp storage environment. The ideal<\/span>candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of NetApp<\/span>storage systems, including provisioning, maintenance, monitoring, and<\/span>optimization of storage resources across SAN and NAS infrastructures.<\/span>Create and manage storage aggregates and volumes on NetApp<\/span>systems.<\/span>Demonstrate working knowledge of storage protocols including<\/span>NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, and FCP.<\/span>Perform ONTAP administration, including system monitoring,<\/span>performance tuning, and firmware upgrades.<\/span>Schedule and manage snapshots for data protection and recovery.<\/span>Establish and monitor SnapMirror relationships for data<\/span>replication and disaster recovery.<\/span>Provision and manage LUNs, including LUN expansion and<\/span>mapping for connected servers.<\/span>Possess strong understanding of SAN (Storage Area Network) and<\/span>NAS (Network Attached Storage) technologies.<\/span>Execute storage reclamation from decommissioned hosts and<\/span>servers to optimize resource utilization.<\/span>Backup (Commvault) Responsible for managing Commvault backups,<\/span>including issue resolution, tape restores, and backup configurations for<\/span>server lifecycle events. Supports backup-to-disk projects, analyzes<\/span>recurring failures, communicates system changes, and leverages SAN<\/span>expertise to optimize performance while assisting with server-level issues to<\/span>ensure data integrity and availability<\/span>Troubleshoot and fix any backup systems related issue(s) in<\/span>conjunction with Systems team and external vendor(s).<\/span>Act as a backup for arranging restore of data from tapes and<\/span>complete backup requests.<\/span>Project activity regarding the implementation of backup to disk<\/span>Back-up configuration due to commissioning \/ de-commissioning<\/span>of live servers<\/span>Problem resolution – troubleshoot frequently failing back-ups<\/span>Change communication to your team leader and colleagues<\/span>regarding changes made to relevant systems and the potential<\/span>impact of these changes on the work of Backup Operations<\/span>Knowledge on SAN technologies.<\/span>Troubleshooting boot issues and other server related issues<\/span>Experience<\/b><\/span>It is envisaged that this role will require in-depth knowledge of both Backup<\/span>and Storage in an IT operational environment.<\/span>To perform this role you will have had at least 4 years experience in a Storage<\/span>and \/ or Backup administration expertise. In particular you will have spent a<\/span>significant period of this time within a single role and you will have current<\/span>work experience in IT Systems Management.<\/span>You will identify yourself as a Systems professional and demonstrate a<\/span>sound understanding of the principles of Systems Management, Monitoring,<\/span>Backup, Storage and their application to an organisation.<\/span>You will ideally have experience in providing support to a global client from<\/span>a remote central location and will be used to dealing with customers from<\/span>varying backgrounds.<\/span>Your approach to work will require a good attention to detail and you will take<\/span>pride in your work as a Systems professional. You will also be able to<\/span>demonstrate commitment to your work and flexibility in dealing with<\/span>unforeseen operational requirements.<\/span>You will have the ability to quickly adapt to new Systems and Business rules<\/span>or standards which will affect your work.<\/span>You will be detail and task orientated with the ability to work as part of a team<\/span>and quickly establish credibility with colleagues.<\/span>You will have excellent communication skills, and able to work effectively<\/span>with both local and remote team members.<\/span>Mandatory Skills<\/b><\/span>The ability to build \/ configure the following tools is required for this role:<\/span>Technical Skills<\/b><\/span>Commvault 11<\/span>In addition the ability to perform Windows Scripting and Active<\/span>Directory Authentication in the above systems<\/span>Familiarity with ONTAP operating system and NetApp tools such as<\/span>OnCommand System Manager or Active IQ Unified Manager and<\/span>Brocade Network Advisor<\/span>Good understanding of enterprise backup and recovery processes.<\/span>Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.<\/span>Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team<\/span>oriented environment.<\/span>Preferred Skills<\/b><\/span>In addition, the ability to build and configure the following tools is strongly<\/span>preferred for this role:<\/span>Certification<\/b><\/span>NetApp then Commvault<\/span>Knowledge of the following would be beneficial for this role and may play a<\/span>part in differentiating you from other candidates:<\/span>Solaris \/ Linux<\/span>Microsoft Project<\/span>Ability to create &<\/span>maintain systems<\/span>documentation<\/span>In addition to the skills mentioned above, the following certifications would<\/span>be beneficial in performing this role:<\/span>NetApp Ontap and Data<\/span>Protection Certification<\/span>Commvault Certification<\/span>MCSE\/MCSA\/MCITP<\/span>Education<\/b><\/span>ITIL<\/span>Minimum degree level education of a B. Tech. \/ B.E. \/ MCA\/ BCA from a<\/span>premier institute or equivalent experience in software design or related<\/span>field.<\/p>\n
