Your days off are available for hiking, adventuring, fishing, and skiing in winter.<span class=\"br\"><\/span>This role is responsible for geotechnical data collection, monitoring, management, analysis and interpretation; then using that data to provide relevant and timely advice on geotechnical hazards. Play a key role in the implementation and maintenance of effective geotechnical risk controls and for a safe and productive mining operation.<span class=\"br\"><\/span><b>Key responsibilities:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undertake routine geotechnical data collection activities such as drill core logging, face mapping, test pits, borehole, prism and seepage monitoring, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with and support exploration, tailings and environmental staff with data collection and monitoring responsibilities.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain geotechnical databases, including accurate data entry, quality control and security.<\/li>\n<li>Install, maintain and monitor specialist geotechnical equipment including slope radar, prism network monitoring, GNSS, piezometers, extensometers, inclinometers, LiDAR and photogrammetry equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Assist coordination of and execution of geotechnical and hydrogeological investigation and monitoring programs, including specialist activities such as downhole geophysical logging, geotechnical core logging and sampling, hydrogeological packer and slug testing, installation of borehole piezometers, extensometers and inclinometers.<\/li>\n<li>Undertake routine regular inspection of pit walls, excavations, blast performance, waste rock stacks and other infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li>Predict, identify and closely monitor areas at risk of slope failure.<\/li>\n<li>Understand and maintain familiarity with the site Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP) and Principal Hazard Management Plan (PHMP) for Ground Instability, ensuring that the plans are followed under the direction of senior geotechnical staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Qualifications<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Relevant tertiary qualification in either Geomechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or Engineering Geology.<\/li>\n<li>Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.<\/li>\n<li>2 to 5 years&#8217; relevant experience.<\/li>\n<li>Experience within both open pit or underground mining operations will be seen as advantageous.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with geotechnical software such as DIPS, ROCSLOPE and UNWEDGE.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Additional Information<\/b><span class=\"br\"><\/span><b>WHAT&#8217;S ON OFFER:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Residential role, live and work in the stunning region of Otago, NZ<\/li>\n<li>Competitive salary + short-term and long-term bonus<\/li>\n<li>Discounts on retail and services<\/li>\n<li>Free Southern Cross Healthcare and Life Insurance<\/li>\n<li>Long service recognition<\/li>\n<li>Living Our Values recoginition program<\/li>\n<li>Free transport to work<\/li>\n<li>Study assistance<\/li>\n<li>Access to OceanaGold Employee Assistance Program (EAP)<\/li>\n<li>Exceptional working environment where people are valued and respected<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> YOU MATTER: OceanaGold is committed to providing equal employment opportunities.
