Oversees arrival and departure of children and youth. Supervises children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years during daily schedule of indoor and outdoor activities and on field trips, outings, and special events. Works within prescribed staff-to-child ratio with children and youth. Develops and provides individual and\/or group lessons to participants using specified program curriculum.<span class=\"br\"><\/span>Performs duties under the general direction of the CDC Supervisor who outlines program objectives and is available for discussion of complicated and unprecedented matters. Works with assistant direct care staff to facilitate a safe and productive learning environment for all children.<br \/><b>Responsibilities<\/b><span class=\"br\"><\/span>This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Works in ratio 80% of the time performing lead teacher responsibilities listed herein.<\/li>\n<li>Acts as manager in manager\u2019s absence up to 20% of the time for the purposes of providing management oversight for early, late, and weekend hours.<\/li>\n<li>Assists the CDC Supervisor and SLD Senior Manager in conducting employee evaluations.<\/li>\n<li>Provides care and supervision to children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years.<\/li>\n<li>Completes training requirements using approved materials to include designated training modules.<\/li>\n<li>Ensures compliance with law, policies, and regulations applicable to DoD\/DoS CDC programs.<\/li>\n<li>Ensures assigned area achieves and maintains standards for DoD certification and national accreditation or equivalent.<\/li>\n<li>Resolves problems and conflicts or obtains information and guidance from the supervisor.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrates proper work methods and provides work-related guidance to subordinates.<\/li>\n<li>Ensures team members follow safety, fire, fitness, health, and nutrition procedures and informs supervisor of compliance concerns.<\/li>\n<li>Instructs team members in specific tasks and job techniques; makes available written instructions, reference materials, and supplies.<\/li>\n<li>Provides care, oversight, and accountability for program participants in compliance with DoD, DoS and local policies, guidance, and standards.<\/li>\n<li>Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Models appropriate behaviors and techniques for working with children\/youth.<\/li>\n<li>Prepares and implements program options for children and youth with special requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Encourages participant interest and establishes a program setting that promotes positive interactions with other children, youth, and adults.<\/li>\n<li>Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children and youth.<\/li>\n<li>Implements activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children and youth.<\/li>\n<li>Tracks participant&#8217;s accomplishments, long and short-term goals, effort, and evaluations as appropriate for age and type of instruction.<\/li>\n<li>Implements changes and adjustments to instruction and plans to meet the needs of individual children and youth.<\/li>\n<li>Works with team members to prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitates conferences with parents and program staff.<\/li>\n<li>Notes special instructions provided by parents.<\/li>\n<li>Ensures children and youth (as applicable) depart with authorized person according to written parental instructions.<\/li>\n<li>Provides opportunities for parental involvement.<\/li>\n<li>Observes program participants for signs that may indicate illness, abuse or neglect and reports as directed.<\/li>\n<li>Notifies supervisor on health, fire, and safety compliance concerns.<\/li>\n<li>Participates in program evaluation using designated instruments.<\/li>\n<li>Interacts professionally with staff members, parents, and local installation command personnel.<\/li>\n<li>Sets up displays and bulletin boards.<\/li>\n<li>Arranges for and serves appropriate snacks or meals where applicable.<\/li>\n<li>Inventories equipment on a recurring basis and recommends replenishing damaged, missing, and depleted supplies.<\/li>\n<li>Secures supplies, equipment, and facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Collects, maintains, and reports program participation data.<\/li>\n<li>Works in ratio 80% of the time performing lead teacher responsibilities listed herein.<\/li>\n<li>Performs other duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Qualifications<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum Qualifications: Education\/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Associate\u2019s degree with content directly related to the age group to which assigned.<\/li>\n<li>Child Development Centers: Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, or directly related behavioral or cultural science.<\/li>\n<li>Youth: Elementary Education, Child Development, Youth Development, Special Education, Secondary Education, Human Development, Youth Program Administration, Recreation, Physical Education, or directly related behavioral or cultural science.<\/li>\n<li>OR<\/li>\n<li>A credential directly related to the age group of the position to which assigned: Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Military School Age Credential, Army Youth Practicum or other nationally recognized Youth Development Credential.<\/li>\n<li>A bachelor\u2019s degree in aforementioned fields is highly preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Child Care National Agency Check (CNACI) clearance requiring US Citizenship or Permanent Residency.<\/li>\n<li>Skills:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Able to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Able to professionally interact with all levels of employees and customers.<\/li>\n<li>Able to read, write, and communicate in English at a satisfactory level.<\/li>\n<li>Enjoys working with children and youth<\/li>\n<li>Working Conditions:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.<\/li>\n<li>Indoor and\/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).<\/li>\n<li>Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.<\/li>\n<li>The worker is subject to both environmental conditions.
