We\u2019ve got what you\u2019re looking for.<\/span>Job Description:<\/b><\/span>Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Graphic Designer to join our team!<\/span>What You’ll Be Doing:<\/b><\/span>Designing Visual Assets: Creating visual elements for highway-related projects, including signs, lane markings, and road safety features such as traffic cones, barriers, and roadwork warnings.<\/span>Signage Design: Developing designs for traffic signs, street name signs, directional signs, and other informational signs required along highways. Ensuring compliance with national or international standards for legibility and clarity.<\/span>Traffic Management Plans: Designing and producing graphics for traffic management plans (TMPs) that include temporary road closures, detours, and diversions during roadworks.<\/span>Highway Cross-Section Design: Developing clear and visually accurate representations of highway cross-sections, including lanes, sidewalks, and safety barriers.<\/span>Public Information Campaigns: Designing materials for public information campaigns related to highway projects, such as flyers, posters, and digital assets to inform the public of upcoming construction or changes in road conditions.<\/span>Mapping and GIS Integration: Working with Geographic Information System (GIS) data to create maps and layouts for road networks, including highlighting key intersections, proposed new roads, and areas of concern.<\/span>Branding and Identity for Road Projects: Creating the visual branding for highway projects, including logos, banners, and any branding materials that will be used in the public realm.<\/span>Designing 3D Visualizations: Using software to create 3D renderings of highway infrastructure, including roadways, intersections, and bridges, to assist in public consultations and planning discussions.<\/span>Working with Engineers and Planners: Collaborating with highway engineers and urban planners to ensure that designs are accurate, reflect functional requirements, and are aligned with project specifications.<\/span>Preparing Presentations: Designing and preparing presentation slides, reports, and visual documents for project meetings, stakeholder briefings, and public consultations.<\/span>What Required Skills You’ll Bring:<\/span>Graphic design diploma or professional equivalent with minimum of 3-5 years\u2019 experience.<\/span>Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.).<\/span>Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) for visualizing highway designs in a graphic format.<\/span>Knowledge of 3D modeling software like SketchUp or Revit for creating more advanced representations.<\/span>Knowledge of highway signage, pavement markings, and traffic management symbols.<\/span>Ability to design traffic safety graphics, including road safety warnings, lane markings, and wayfinding signs.<\/span>Understanding of roadway classifications, and how to represent them graphically.<\/span>Strong understanding of technical drawing standards and layout conventions, particularly in the context of road infrastructure.<\/span>Ability to produce schematics, layout plans, and cross-sectional views of roads, pedestrian paths, and utilities.<\/span>Experience working with scaled drawings and converting complex designs into user-friendly graphics.<\/span>Familiarity with roadway geometrics (such as curvature, slopes, intersections, and signage placement).<\/span>Ability to create visual representations of complex engineering data for public presentations or internal reports.<\/span>Collaboration with Engineers and Architects:<\/span>Ability to collaborate with engineers, urban planners, and architects to translate technical road design plans into visually appealing and clear layouts.<\/span>Understanding of BIM (Building Information Modeling) in the context of infrastructure to produce integrated designs.<\/span>Experience in branding or working within corporate design guidelines to create a unified visual language for highway projects (e.g., logos, signage systems).<\/span>Ability to produce presentation boards and visual communications materials for stakeholders, including maps, conceptual designs, and proposal layouts.<\/span>Strong eye for detail, ensuring that all graphics are clear, legible, and meet safety and design standards.<\/span>Ensuring design consistency across various visual elements in the project, from diagrams to full-scale renderings.<\/span>Ability to adapt designs based on changing project requirements, safety standards, or environmental conditions.<\/span>Capability to solve visual design challenges while maintaining a focus on functionality and safety in road systems.<\/span>Familiarity with accessibility guidelines and regulations, such as ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), to ensure the visual design supports universal access.<\/span>Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.<\/span>Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.<\/span>Strong communication skills to effectively present design concepts to project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.<\/span>Proficient in creating visual presentations and mockups for design approval.<\/span>Creativity in presenting complex road data and infrastructure designs in a visually engaging and easy-to-understand manner.<\/span>Innovative approaches to translating technical road infrastructure into public-facing graphics, digital media, or educational materials.<\/span>What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:<\/span>Ability to think outside the box and bring fresh, innovative ideas to the table.<\/span>Proficiency in developing original visual concepts and solutions for diverse projects, ensuring they are both visually appealing and on-brand.<\/span>Strong understanding of typography and its importance in design, with the ability to choose appropriate fonts and styles to enhance visual communication.<\/span>A keen eye for detail, ensuring the highest quality in designs, including alignment, spacing, color harmony, and typography.<\/span>Ability to develop and maintain cohesive brand guidelines.<\/span>Knowledge of how to adapt designs to fit various brand identities across different platforms.<\/span>Familiarity with motion design and animation tools such as After Effects.<\/span>Ability to create dynamic and engaging graphics, including simple animations and GIFs.<\/span>A basic understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles, even if not primarily focused on UI design, to create visually functional and intuitive designs.<\/span>A basic understanding in 3D design software like Blender or Cinema 4D for creating mockups, product visualizations, and motion graphics.<\/span>Familiarity with the technical requirements for print production, such as resolution, color profiles, and file formats.<\/span>Understanding of printing processes and how to design for different types of media (e.g., brochures, posters, billboards).<\/span>Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements, feedback, and evolving design trends.<\/span>Familiarity with web design trends and best practices for creating designs optimized for websites, banners, and digital ads.<\/span>Experience with responsive design for mobile and desktop environments.<\/span>Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.<\/span>Ability to work well within a team, collaborating with copywriters, marketers, developers, and other creatives to bring projects to life.<\/span>While proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is required, the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and software (e.g., Figma, Sketch, etc.) is a plus.<\/span>Ability to identify design challenges and propose innovative, practical solutions to meet client needs.<\/span>A good understanding of photography principles and the ability to edit photos and videos for use in designs.<\/span>Familiarity with creating visual content that is optimized for different social media
