A successful candidate will be a well-rounded software development engineer with a proven track record of delivering software at scale in an Agile environment.<span class=\"br\"><\/span>Avalara is the worldwide leader in sales and use tax calculation. And that&#8217;s what we&#8217;re doing every day, bringing technology to bear on the arcane process of sales tax calculation, reporting and remitting.<span class=\"br\"><\/span>We have fantastic culture focused on building great software and having the maximum impact on the world that we can and having fun while doing it.<span class=\"br\"><\/span><b>Job Duties:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Create, review and breakdown complex design specifications.<\/li>\n<li>Understand product strategy, priorities, metrics and standards to recommend optimal solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Write reusable, testable, and efficient code.<\/li>\n<li>Perform code reviews and champion efforts of quality across the team.<\/li>\n<li>Work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.<\/li>\n<li>Address non-functional requirements like security, performance and load for the product.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Troubleshoot, diagnose and identify failing systems through the use of instrumentation.<\/li>\n<li>Mentor, coach team and share knowledge on technical skills and capabilities.<\/li>\n<li>Be part of innovation culture and find ways to optimize processes and services.<\/li>\n<li>Manage priorities, trade-offs, forecast\/manage risk, identify and implement solutions in team deliverables.<\/li>\n<li>Lead conversations across teams and leadership to drive and build consensus on critical topics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What You&#8217;ll Need to be Successful<\/b><span class=\"br\"><\/span><b>What You&#8217;ll Need to be Successful<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Four year bachelor&#8217;s degree or higher in computer science or engineering is required.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 7 to 14 years of experience in a software development role, shipping complex applications to large scale production environments.<\/li>\n<li>Experience working in product based organizations preferred (most recent).<\/li>\n<li>Experience in engineering for highly available and fault tolerant software in a SaaS cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc).<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge with monitoring and alerting tools as well as analysing system metrics for performance and reliability tuning.<\/li>\n<li>Expert and past demonstrated capabilities of architectural styles, cloud design patterns and cloud security aspects.<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> Programming Languages specific skills: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>C#, .Net Core, TypeScript<\/li>\n<li>OOPs understanding<\/li>\n<li>Multi-threading<\/li>\n<li>Async programming<\/li>\n<li>Exception handling<\/li>\n<li>Unit Testing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> Cloud Computing &#038; DevOps : <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience with atleast one public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Blob\/object storage<\/li>\n<li>Containerization<\/li>\n<li>Container orchestration like ECS, Kubernetes<\/li>\n<li>Serverless<\/li>\n<li>CI\/CD pipelines<\/li>\n<li>Troubleshooting<\/li>\n<li>Basic understanding of Infrastructure as code<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> System design: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>OOAD, Cloud Design Patterns<\/li>\n<li>Module design\/ low level design<\/li>\n<li>API Development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> Development practices and tools: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).<\/li>\n<li>Experience in software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> Database Management: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proficiency in working with relational databases (any of SQL, PostgreSQL etc)<\/li>\n<li>Good to have &#8211; Knowledge of database performance optimisation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> Software Testing <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In-depth testing knowledge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Unit testing<\/li>\n<li>Functional testing<\/li>\n<li>Integration testing<\/li>\n<li>E2E integration tests<\/li>\n<li>At least one code coverage tool<\/li>\n<li>Good to Have<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Load\/performance testing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> How We&#8217;ll Take Care of You<span class=\"br\"><\/span><b>Total Rewards<\/b><span class=\"br\"><\/span>In addition to a great compensation package, paid time off, and paid parental leave, many Avalara employees are eligible for bonuses.<span class=\"br\"><\/span>Health &#038; Wellness<br \/>\n       Benefits vary by location but generally include private medical, life, and disability insurance.<span class=\"br\"><\/span>Inclusive culture and diversity<br \/>\n       Avalara strongly supports diversity, equity, and inclusion, and is committed to integrating them into our business practices and our organizational culture.
