Technical Services Industry: Refining &#038; Petrochemicals (Downstream)<br \/>\n       Location: Sohar<br \/>\n       Experience: 12-18+ years (Senior \/ Lead level)<span class=\"br\"><\/span><b>Minimum requirements<\/b><br \/>\n       Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Instrumentation \/ Electronics \/ Control Engineering<br \/>\n       10-18+ years of experience in refining \/ petrochemical \/ oil &#038; gas industries<br \/>\n       Proven experience in brownfield projects (FEED + Detailed Engineering)<br \/>\n       Strong analytical capability to evaluate existing vs proposed system modifications<br \/>\n       Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills<span class=\"br\"><\/span><b>Key Responsibilities<\/b><br \/>\n       Instrument Engineering &#038; Brownfield Modifications<br \/>\n       Capability to perform field instrument sizing and selection including control valves, flow meters, pressure, temperature, and level instruments.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Evaluate brownfield modification proposals by assessing: Existing system vs. proposed changes<\/li>\n<li>Impact on Field JBs \/ Cable Routing \/ IO Sizing \/ DCS \/ ESD \/ PLC configurations<\/li>\n<li>Wiring modifications, loop changes, and cabinet expansion requirements<\/li>\n<li>Spare availability, obsolescence risks, and system constraints<\/li>\n<li>Develop instrument engineering scope and deliverables aligned with end-user requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> FEED &#038; Feasibility Engineering<br \/>\n       Contribute to as an Instrument Engineering specialist for feasibility studies and FEED phases such as:<span class=\"br\"><\/span>Revamp &#038; debottlenecking projects<br \/>\n       Energy optimization and decarbonization initiatives (e.g., flare gas recovery, CO\/CO\u2082\/H\u2082 recovery, furnace revamp &#038; recovery etc.)<span class=\"br\"><\/span>Translate process concepts into: Instrument index, IO list, Instrument datasheets, control philosophy inputs, F&#038;G and Analyzer requirements<br \/>\n       Preliminary control system architecture and sizing etc.<br \/>\n       Prepare clear and structured Scope of Work (SOW) from Instrumentation and Control Systems engineering aspects for FEED\/EPC contractors.<span class=\"br\"><\/span>Hazardous Area &#038; Compliance<br \/>\n       Apply strong knowledge of hazardous area classification and compliance.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure proper selection and design of instruments based on: ATEX \/ IECEx requirements<\/li>\n<li>Intrinsic Safety (IS) philosoph<\/li>\n<li>Functional Safety design and engineering requirements including SIL classification &#038; verification hands-on experience<\/li>\n<li>Support safe design practices in compliance with international standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> Multidiscipline Interface Management<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinate effectively with: Process Engineering (P&#038;IDs, control narrative, control philosophy, cause &#038; effect, process conditions data requirements for instrument selection &#038; sizing etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Piping &#038; Mechanical \/ Rotating Equipment (isometrics interfaces, rotating machinery instrumentation etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Electrical Engineering (power, earthing, hazardous area interfaces)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> Identify and manage instrumentation &#038; control interface boundaries early to prevent scope gaps and rework.<span class=\"br\"><\/span>Control Systems &#038; Instrumentation Deliverables<br \/>\n       Hands-on experience with: DCS, ESD, PLC systems<br \/>\n       Analyzers and package systems<br \/>\n       CCTV and auxiliary systems (as applicable)<br \/>\n       Field Instruments, F&#038;F and Analyzers<br \/>\n       Prepare\/review key deliverables: Instrument datasheets<br \/>\n       Instrument loop diagrams<br \/>\n       Hook-ups and installation details<br \/>\n       Wiring diagrams (power &#038; signal)<br \/>\n       Instrument layouts and location drawings<br \/>\n       IO lists and controller sizing<br \/>\n       Instrument air &#038; power consumption calculations<br \/>\n       Control system architecture and network diagrams<span class=\"br\"><\/span>Communication Protocols<br \/>\n       Working knowledge and application of: HART protocol<br \/>\n       Foundation Fieldbus<br \/>\n       Review and validate associated engineering deliverables and integration aspects.<span class=\"br\"><\/span>Technical Bid Evaluation<br \/>\n       Lead technical bid evaluations (TBE) for instrumentation and control systems.<br \/>\n       Conduct technical clarifications with vendors\/OEMs.<br \/>\n       Ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and lifecycle requirements.<span class=\"br\"><\/span>Engineering Standards &#038; Lifecycle Perspective<br \/>\n       Strong familiarity with FEED and Detailed Engineering deliverables, including: Instrument Index &#038; IO Lists<br \/>\n       Cause &#038; Effect inputs<br \/>\n       Control narratives\/philosophies<br \/>\n       Cable schedules and routing<br \/>\n       Junction box, marshalling, and cabinet design<br \/>\n       FAT\/SAT requirements and support<br \/>\n       Ensure alignment with company engineering standards and lifecycle management practices.<br \/>\n       Good experience in preparing clear scope of work document for Instrument &#038;
