A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and traveler satisfaction.<\/span>This Android Engineer role sits within the Expedia Group Design System (EGDS) team. Our team is responsible for maintaining and evolving the Expedia Group Design System, working closely with designers and engineering teams across the company to help deliver high-quality, accessible, and consistent UI patterns for our travelers and partners.<\/span>In this role, you will:<\/b><\/span>Apply your technical Android engineering knowledge to solve user experience problems and advocate for engineering’s role in the design lifecycle.<\/span>Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, and other engineers to develop solutions for new and improved user experiences.<\/span>Write clean, maintainable, and optimized code by applying software design principles, data structures, and computer science fundamentals.<\/span>Build new technical expertise in a rapidly evolving environment while helping mentor and guide other engineers on the team.<\/span>Develop prototypes to influence product strategy and advise on technical possibilities and limitations.<\/span>Proactively provide clear updates on work status and coordinate stakeholder input when developing solutions.<\/span>Required Qualifications:<\/b><\/span>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with 5+ years of professional software development experience, OR a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience; OR Equivalent related professional experience.<\/span>Strong proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android frameworks like Jetpack Compose.<\/span>Experience maintaining software projects in production environments, including bug fixing, troubleshooting, and monitoring.<\/span>Experience developing software in at least three different programming languages.<\/span>Proficiency with version control systems, such as Git.<\/span>Preferred Qualifications:<\/b><\/span>Direct experience contributing to or using a design system.<\/span>A track record of successful collaboration with designers to create accessible and user-centric solutions.<\/span>Knowledge of Android app design patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVI) and the ability to articulate their trade-offs.<\/span>Experience implementing sophisticated UI interactions, animations, and transitions on Android.<\/span>Experience writing unit tests and working with UI testing frameworks like Espresso or Robolectric.<\/span>A dedication to knowledge sharing and continuous personal skill development.<\/span>The total cash range for this position in Austin is $146,000.00 to $204,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $233,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.<\/span>The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $136,000.00 to $190,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $217,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.<\/span>Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual\u2019s knowledge, skills, and experience.
