Thanks to the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey, who founded the school in 1909, the school is fully endowed and has the resources to ensure students can thrive.<span class=\"br\"><\/span>MHS is hiring married couples to become weekend houseparents. Weekend houseparents are couples who stay in on-campus student homes every other weekend (from 6 p.m. Friday to 9:30 p.m. Sunday) to supervise and nurture a group of approximately 8-12 students while the full-time couples are off-duty. They provide a consistent family-like structure for students and handle responsibilities such as coordinating student activities, chaperoning to Sunday chapel services, driving student home vans, administering medications, preparing meals, and more.<span class=\"br\"><\/span>Weekend houseparents are compensated $771.33 per person, per weekend and meals are provided while on duty. Paid training is provided and required annually. Qualifications: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings<\/li>\n<li>This is a two-person job for couples who have been legally married for at least two years<\/li>\n<li>Both spouses should be age 27 or older<\/li>\n<li>No more than three dependent children may accompany the couple<\/li>\n<li>Abide by a smoke-free and weapon-free campus. No alcohol is permitted while on duty<\/li>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s licenses; ability to become certified to drive student home vans<\/li>\n<li>Couples should reside no more than a 100 mile radius of campus.<\/li>\n<li>High school diploma or GED required<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.<\/li>\n<li>Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all staff are role models for students.<\/li>\n<li>Both spouses must complete an individual employment application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> This is a unique career path that takes consideration and commitment from both spouses.
