Job Description :Job Title: Assistant Electrician – Offshore Jackup Rig
Location: Offshore Qatar (North Field Expansion, Halul Island, or Contracted Rigs)
Employment Type: Rotational (42/ 21)
Reporting To: Chief Electrician / Electrical SupervisorKey Responsibilities1. Electrical System Support· Assist in maintenance & troubleshooting of:o HV/LV switchgear (Siemens, ABB)o Drilling equipment circuits (VFDs, top drives, drawworks)o Emergency systems (UPS, batteries, lighting)o Jacking system controls (PLC panels, motor starters)2. Preventive Maintenance· Perform thermal imaging checks on electrical panels· Conduct insulation resistance tests on motors/cables· Replace contactors, relays, and breakers3. Safety & Compliance· Follow Qatar Energy (QP) electrical safety standards· Adhere to ATEX/IECEx protocols in hazardous zones· Implement LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) procedures4. Emergency Response· Support blackout recovery and equipment failures· Participate in electrical fire drillsRequirementsQualifications & CertificationsMandatory:· Diploma in Electrical Engineering or 2+ years offshore experience· BOSIET/FOET with HUET (Offshore Survival & Helicopter Escape)· Qatar Ministry of Public Health Medical CertificatePreferred:· COMPEX (Ex01-Ex04) for hazardous areas· HV/LV Switching Certification· PLC/VFD troubleshooting skillsBenefitsExpected Day Rates in Qatar (2025)$180 – 200/ day
